EE and Three UK join forces to share 4G rollout costs

EE’s plans to provide 4G connectivity to around 90% of the UK population by the end of 2014 has been given a welcome boost as it has joined forces with Three UK to hit that target. Both EE and Three UK will share the costs of the rollout in a combined £1 billion deal to help accelerate 4G growth.

Thus far, EE has continuously expanded their 4G rollout since 2012 and it has now reached 160 locations throughout the UK to date which is around 70% of their current target.

eMagi’s Take
This is great news for the consumer as it should help speed up the rollout for 4G as well as expanding and improving the signal coverage in the UK. Couple this with the news that Three UK will upgrade users to 4G for free and it is a good win overall.
