Rumour: Samsung Galaxy S4 and Note 3 to get Android 4.4 KitKat in Jan

An alleged leaked schedule has revealed that the Galaxy S4 and the Note 3 will be Samsung’s first devices to receive the Android 4.4 (KitKat) firmware update in January 2014. Last years flagship devices such as the Galaxy S3 and Note 2 will also allegedly receive the bump to Android 4.4 sometime in March or April 2014.

Lets just hope Samsung apply the correct level of quality assurance and testing this time round after a poor launch of the Android 4.3 update for the Galaxy S3 device, rendering it near unusable with poor memory management, wake up issues, battery drain and more. After a few weeks Samsung pushed out another update which seems to have fixed many of the issues along with redesigned icons and additional features to the stock camera.

Are you kidding, at this rate i would be surprised to see 4.3 on the note2 by april in the UK nevermind 4.4, even then it wont work. Samsungs track record of updating the note 2 is pathetic. 14 months and counting, if samsung do not want to lose their existing customer base then starting 2014 update the s3/note2 at the same time they update s4/note3 and no more excuses.

It has been pretty dire for the S3 as well (especially with the botched initial 4.3 update) which has left many users with a near useless smartphone.

It is a shame as the Note 2 has capable hardware, but much like how Android 4.2.2 was skipped for the S3, the Note 2 could just jump right to 4.4.

KitKat is a big internal update though so I really hope we will still get some good updates for our devices in the future…
